When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory
Colossians 3:4 (New American Standard Bible)
‘When Christ, who is our life’ - Six words that carry enormous substance, weight & strength in the life of every follower of Jesus Christ.
These words carry such rich and diverse meaning to each one of us, and to me they are uniquely central to my life of faith in Christ. Why is this? The answer is simple, Jesus is the one I seek to model my life on...
THE CULT OF CELEBRITY
In today’s culture, people of all ages (6 – 66) model their lives on someone or something. We clearly live in a world that celebrates celebrities from a list that spans A – Z. There are literally hundreds of thousands of celebrities across the globe. Some are famous and some are infamous. Nevertheless, they are worshipped, highly thought of and, to a large degree, modelled by their adoring army of fans. To those fans, their idol is literally their life and they will go to great lengths to sound like them, act like them and even look like them. They become consumed.
THE CONSUMED
Are we not called by God to be consumed with Jesus? Consumed in such a way that his very presence and Spirit permeates our life? As Christians, if we are to model Jesus to our world, then we must be ‘the consumed’. Surely our ultimate and devouring purpose is to be more Christ-like in all areas of our life. Our lives have, not just been recovered by God, but revolutionized through the power of the Holy Spirit as God intended. As we increasingly develop our love and passion for Jesus - and the more we are focused in living for him - the more we become consumed by modelling him to the world.
THE QUESTION
Here’s the big question that demands a honest answer: Is Christ your life?If not, then the journey is one long struggle. Where we are pulled and torn on the inside, constantly battling internal conflict and never truly finding resolution and agreement with Christ and his Church. Ultimately we will fail in building anything of spiritual significance with our life and God given resources. How heartbreaking, tragic and sad this would be?
It’s time to let go of issues, hostility, disagreement, hard hearts, negative mindsets, criticism and wrong attitudes and allow Christ to be your life. With him you can enjoy the journey, rather than enduring it!
If we truly focus on lives on Christ and resolve to walk in him, then the journey will be so much more fulfilling, rewarding & enjoyable, simply because we walk together in harmony, unity and agreement with Christ and his Church - building his Kingdom with friends!Make Jesus your model for living and not the celebrities of this world. Keep becoming more like Jesus everyday. As you model Jesus, your life and your light will shine brightly,m bringing love and influence to those who haven’t yet discovered the amazing grace of Jesus Christ .
